Dell XPS 420 now available

Dell has just announced a new suite of products centered around “multimedia technology solutions”. The long awaited Dell XPS 420 desktop computer, the Dell SP2008WFP display and the Dell 948 all-in-one printer.
“Our goal is to help people turn their digital lifestyle dreams into reality, whether it’s viewing family moments and memories, telling your story with photos and videos, creating videos for social networking sites like YouTube, recording TV shows or converting vinyl album libraries to digital files,“ said Karen Plotkin, director of consumer desktop marketing.
The Dell XPS 420 desktop starts at $1,499 and is powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo processor with your choice of either ATI or NVIDIA graphics card, 2GB DDR2 SDRAM, a 320GB hard drive and comes with a 20-inch LCD, Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, a 13-in-1 card reader and has Microsoft’s SideShow technology, which adds a small color display on the front panel that allows for easy access to stored media and standard Windows SideShow gadgets.
The XPS 420 also has an option for the exclusive Dell Xcelerator technology that will help with video work, with the Xcelerator technology you will be able to get your video ready for “portable devices up to 25 percent faster while reducing the burden of video conversion up to 86 percent” Also included standard on the XPS 420 is the Adobe Elements Studio that includes Adobe Photoshop Elements 6, Premiere Elements 4 and Soundbooth CS3.
“The combination of the XPS 420 and the Adobe Elements Studio software makes it easy to harness creativity and imagination and share ideas, style and personality.“
In addition to the XPS 420 Dell also announced the SP2008WFP display and the 948 all-in-one printer. The SP2008WFP is a 20-inch display that features 1680 x 1050 resolution, 2 millisecond response, 2000:1 contrast ratio, Dell TrueLife Technology and has a built-in 2 megapixel webcam with microphone. The SP2008WFP is currently available for $280. The Dell 948 all-in-one printer is a 4-in-1 device with fax, scan, copy and print functions. The 948 allows for USB printing as well as standalone copying. Speeds up to 28 pages per minute for black and 25 pages per minute on color it offers resolution up to 4800 x 1200 dpi. The 948 also feature a PictBridge connection to allow for direct printing from a digital camera and has an optional Bluetooth adapter that allows it to be hooked up to compatible Bluetooth-enabled handheld devices or mobile phones. The Dell 948 4-in-1 printer is currently available and will retail for $149.
